My still life paintings are done in the "Old Master's" style, applying thin glazes over several months.  This builds up the color from underneath and the objects develop a mystical richness, not obtainable any other way.  The paintings also use "chiaroscuro" or light emitting from the darkness techniques to further enhance the light "melody" your eye follows and your mind "hears".

Copper, wild sage, garlic and resplendent onions draw us into the joys of cooking.
 "Red Venus"
  11x14, Oil on Canvas

The grapes are called "red venus", a seedless sweet variety started from my Dad's garden.  They show so many luscious colors that they begged to be placed in a simple white bowl beside a red pear and bright white cut apples to augment their beauty.

 "Exotica"
 11x14 Oil on Linen Board

Imagine a tamarillo from New Zealand, pearls from the  oceans, a brass mortar with pestle from the Mideast, and lemon grass from the Orient. They don't really fit together and yet somehow, they reflect my eclectic life.
